1. VEGAS! THE SHOW
One of my reasons for going to Vegas was to see a Vegas show. We decided on “Vegas! The Show” which was located at the Saxe Theater inside the Miracle Mile Shops at Planet Hollywood.
It was NOT a disappointment. I ordered tickets through Vegas.com on a Sunday for a 7 pm show on that Wednesday. The seats were terrific and at a discounted price!
The gentleman I spoke with on the phone ordering the tickets on Vegas .com was very helpful and easy to talk to. We sat in row D right in the center of the Saxe Theater. Row D was actually only 3 rows from the stage since there was not a Row A.
The performance was great. Everything about it was fantastic — the singing, dancing, costumes, etc. It was the type of performance you leave feeling great.
We enjoyed the nostalgia of the story of the original Vegas with the old-time greats such as Dean Martin, Sammy Davis, Jr., and Frank Sinatra — just to name a few. Bravo! Bravo!

4 The Beatles Love – The Best Shows In Las Vegas
This stunning show from Cirque du Soleil brings together acrobatics and the music of The Beatles with never-before-seen cuts from the studio and reinterpretations of beloved songs set to choreographed skits.
Sit anywhere with 360-degree seating for stellar views from every angle. Cirque asked Beatles producer Sir George Martin and his son Giles Martin to remix well-known tracks from the original masters at Abbey Road for an entirely new soundtrack.
Songs were pulled apart and reassembled, sometimes taking a drumbeat from one track and adding it to another. Ringo Starr even noted that his original vocals were added to “Octopus Garden,” giving the song a new depth. “The Beatles Love” performs at the Mirage.
Love is a 2006 theatrical production by Cirque du Soleil which combines the re-produced and re-imagined music of the Beatles with an interpretive, circus-based artistic and athletic stage performance. The show plays at a specially built theatre at the Mirage in Las Vegas.
By any measure, Las Vegas is one of the most popular tourism destinations in the world, and for good reason – there is so much to do, see, experience, eat and enjoy there.
When I first visited Vegas in the early Eighties, the city was drawing about 12 million tourists annually. By 2016 that was up to nearly 43 million, after many record setting years in between.
In that period I visited more than forty times, and I’m not sure a year has gone by since the late Eighties when I haven’t been, often several times, most recently a couple of months ago.
When I started covering Vegas, it was a city much more focused on gaming. I saw Frank Sinatra on an early trip at a hotel that no longer exists, in a relatively small ballroom.
Today, the Chairman of the Board would have his own grand theater and play a months long engagement – a “residency,” the newest Vegas entertainment staple – and likely be sold out every night.
I remember when Siegfried and Roy at the Mirage introduced the idea of the elaborate production stage spectacle to the city, and in the past few decades, Vegas has gotten to be much less about chips and felt, and much more about food and entertainment.
